CMEC Deputy General Manager Fang Yanshui Visits Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister

On December 7-8 (local time), CMEC Deputy General Manager Fang Yanshui met in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, with Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid and signed the East Sitra City government-subsidized housing EPC contract with Bahraini Housing Minister Basim Alhamer.

Shaikh Khalid emphasized that the East Sitra City government-subsidized housing project is a major project and step for ensuring and improving the people’s wellbeing, and an important measure for ensuring steady and robust economic development of the region. He appreciated CMEC for its efforts for actively innovating the financing model and promoting successful signing of the project. Fang said that the Chinese government and CMEC attach great importance to the project and pledged to make the project an example for the cooperation between the two sides so as to lay a solid foundation for making further and broader cooperation between the two sides.

On the morning of December 8 (local time), Fang and Basim Alhamer signed the EPC contract of the project for building over 3,100 housings and relevant supporting municipal works in Sitra, with a contract value of USD 691 million.

Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain An Wa’er congratulated CMEC for its significant achievements in the project contracting market of Bahrain, emphasized that the housing project is a key project of Bahrain and represents a new milestone of the cooperation between the two sides under the “Belt & Road” Initiative, and said that the Bahraini side hopes CMEC to carefully organize the project to ensure success. Fang pledged that CMEC will carry out construction meticulously so as to ensure safe, high-quality and efficient completion of the project.

Also present at the meeting were CMEC General Manager Li Baolin, Assistant General Manager and Human Resources Department General Manager Li Changxin, and others.
